Abstract: Plasma chemical high-energy thermal methods of synthesis of nanoparticles and nanostructures are аiscussed. Specific features of quasi-equilibrium and non-equilibrium plasma chemical processes (PCP) for preparing nanoparticles and nanostructures are analyzed in regard to thermodynamic, kinetic and technological aspects. The essence and experimental setup of the plasma and plasma chemical processes are considered in view of nanoparticle and nanostructure preparation. Because of the variety of experimental studies on many PCP cases in neutral, reductive, oxidative, nitrogen and other redox media, optimal process parameters are discussed with respect to obtaining condensed nanodispersed products of controllable dispersion, chemical activity, morphology, and structure and phase composition. Results of detailed characterization of the properties of nanoparticles and nanostructures synthesized from oxides, nitrides, carbides, carbonitrides, catalysts, pigments, metals, carbonaceous nanoformations (nanotubes, fullerenes), etc., are presented. Analysis has been carried out of the structural, phase and morphological features of nanoparticles and nanostructures.Considerable attention is paid to different directions of practical application of the low-temperature plasma to synthesis of nanodispersed powders: metals, oxides, nitrides, carbides, catalysts.

Автор(и): Ж. С. Стефанов
Author(s): Z. Stefanov
Abstract: The present work is a retrospective review of the foundation of the Department of Chemical Engineering at Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov University in Burgas, its development, scientific achievements and international scientific partnership since 1978 until present day. It points out the members of the working team through the years, changes in the staff and reorganizations of the chair as well as educational and basic and applied research activities. The chair carries out education of students of all chemical engineering specialties of over 25 disciplines in BSc, MSc and PhD curricula. So far, 18 textbooks and manuals for students have been published or are in the press. The main research topics of the chair are: rectification process and apparatus modelling and intensification; study and simulation of fluidized bed processes; mathematical modelling of chemical reaction kinetics; and nanostructures − synthesis and application. Most important results from chair’s educational, research and innovation activities are presented. Creative local and international contacts with research institutions are briefly discussed as well.
